How to play Featle
Featle is a game about how connected music is. You are given a starting artist and a target artist, and your job is to connect them through songs they have made with other musicians.
The goal
Reach the target artist in as few steps as you can. A step is one song: the artist you are on has to be credited on it alongside at least one other artist. Solo tracks don't count, because they don't lead anywhere new.
Step by step
- Check where you are. The game screen shows your current artist, the artist you are trying to reach, and the chain you have built so far.
- Enter a song. Type the title of a song your current artist is credited on with someone else. A remix, a feature or a duet all work, as long as more than one artist is credited.
- Choose who to follow. Featle lists the other artists on that song. Pick one and they become your current artist.
- Repeat until you arrive. As soon as a song you submit credits the target artist, you win, even if you chose a different collaborator on that step.

Daily Challenge
Everyone gets the same pair of artists each day, and a new pair appears at midnight in your own time zone. It's a good way to compare chains with friends: who got there in the fewest steps?
Freemode
Type any two artists and play as long as you like. It's great for practice, or for setting a challenge for someone else, such as getting from a classic rock band to a current rapper.
Tips for shorter chains
- Use the album list. On the game screen, open any album to see its tracks and the artists credited on each one. It's the quickest way to spot songs with guests.
- Look for connectors. Some artists collaborate across genres and appear on many other people's songs. Heading for one of them often makes the next step easier.
- Try remixes. A remix often credits an artist who never appears on the original.
- Work backwards. Think about who has worked with the target artist, then ask how you could reach any of them.
Good to know
- Song credits come from Spotify, so spelling matters. If a song isn't accepted, try the title exactly as it appears on Spotify.
- There's no limit on steps and no account to create.
